CARLOWRIE CASTLE WEDDING VIDEO

LUXURY EdinburgH WEDDING VIDEO

Last summer on a beautiful sunny day we had the great pleasure to film Ariana and Cameron’s luxury wedding held at one of Scotland’s finest venues, Carlowrie Castle. “We both come from design and branding backgrounds, so planning our wedding was the ultimate cumulation of our skill set to curate an experiential event for all our friends and family. It was important for us to maintain a sense of intimacy and personalisation in every aspect of the wedding. We had a strong vision for the feeling and ambiance we wanted to create around our big day. We made our own wedding logo, designed all our wedding stationary/signage, and incorporated personal details into many aspects of the wedding – even including our dog, Buchanan, in various elements such as the signature cocktail drink, cocktail napkins, and even a surprise appearance on the backside of our wedding cake (shown taking a cheeky nibble of our all-green cake, flavoured in whiskey salted caramel). It was important for us that our guests felt celebrated as well, seeing as more than half of our friends and family had to travel a great length to Scotland for our big day. The name card for each place setting was a special detail that we loved working on. We wrote individual notes to every guest that they opened upon finding their seat, expressing our love and gratitude for them and their support. Everyone still talks about how special those notes were to them, even to this day”, shared the Bride.

As an Edinburgh wedding videographer I truly enjoyed filming Ariana and Cameron’s beautiful  fairytale wedding. It was a memorable day full of love, fun and beautiful decor. “A timeless event with classic and romantic elements. Our main colours were emerald green, ivory cream and caramel. The main highlights were all the personal details we incorporated – our monogram logo, velvet ribbons that carried from the wedding invites to the menus and signage, personal elements in the ceremony, hand written notes, a guest book audio phone where guests could leave personal voicemails for us, a custom signature drink that we created from scratch, handmade confetti cones in a velum art print that depicted the view of Princes Street gardens from the church terrace, etc. Plus, music to accompany every moment of the wedding including a piper outside the church, a custom curated playlist during the bus transportation from the church to the reception, live jazz music during cocktail hour, a pianist playing during the dinner seating, and our wonderful DJ who we worked closely with to create the ultimate flow of tunes for the night’s festivities. Flowers were also very important to us. Our flowers and candles truly made the dinner so magical, filled with beautiful colours and textures that brought all the amazing details of the space together”, said Ariana and Cameron.

BRIDE’S TIPS FOR PLANNING A LUXURY WEDDING

We love when our Bride is sharing her experience about planning a dream wedding. Here are a few tips from Ariana, our gorgeous Bride on how to plan a romantic wedding at Carlowrie Castle. “Our best advice is to maintain a laser focus on what is important to you as a couple. It’s easy to lose sight of the reason why all these people are coming together – and that reason is to celebrate you and your love! As you plan together, try to have regular check-ins, set milestones by certain dates to keep you on track, schedule time for planning so it doesn’t become all-consuming, and remember that planning can and should be fun for you and your partner. Incorporate elements that are special to you as a couple, celebrating all the things that make you both happy. It’s a fleeting moment in time between getting engaged and getting married, so stay present and stay organised so you can enjoy every moment together. Also, in your run of show, don’t forget to carve out private time together on the big day so you can soak it all in!”, explained Ariana. “We took a lot of inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest, finding photos that we liked, elements from other weddings that we wanted to incorporate, etc. We had a lot of fun coming up with original elements that we hadn’t seen done before. The groom’s family tartan is made of emerald green with a gold yellow accent, so that became a main source of inspiration for the colours. The castle’s facade was covered in beautiful green ivy, so we took inspiration from that as well, incorporating ivy illustrations into our stationery and signage. We made a conscious effort to design with the space in mind – the church has ivory walls with gold trim, so our programs were ivory with gold velvet ribbon. The bridesmaids bouquets had that same colour palette. The dinner reception was held in a bright, white orangery with glass walls that looked over the garden, so we wanted to bring the garden inside the dinner space with tall, wild greenery and ivory and caramel roses. It was important to us that our wedding was a guest-centric experience so we planned the wedding from the perspective of our guests – what would make them comfortable, what would remove the stress for those transition moments, what would be the surprise moments, what was their point of view from the moment they arrived at the church to the moment they left the castle. It made for a very seamless and well-planned day”, added the Bride.

CARLOWRIE CASTLE  WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

It was such an honour to film the recent Carlowrie Castle Wedding. This luxury Edinburgh wedding venue with its truly magical setting, provided a perfect backdrop to Ariana and Cameron’s Edinburgh wedding video. “The groom’s side of the family is from Edinburgh, Scotland. The bride’s family is from California, USA. We decided to get married in Edinburgh to create a “destination” wedding for some, and a convenient wedding for others. We got married at St. John’s Church in Edinburgh off Princes Street. We had passed that church hundreds of times and always admired its beauty. It was also so convenient for our out of town guests to walk from their hotel or airbnb to the ceremony, and the rest of the transportation was handled by us. The reception was held at Carlowrie Castle, just 20 minutes outside of Edinburgh. The castle is beautifully traditional from the outside, but modern and refreshed on the inside, filled with a wonderful collection of pop art. Being art lovers, it was fun to have our dancing reception in the same room as a piece of art that we both loved and admired for a while – Banksy, Nola. The food was also incredible at Carlowrie! We may be biased, but the menu was sublime. The dinner consisted of a baked tomato tart, followed by sea bass with gnocchi or braised beef cheek, and a raspberry creme brulee to end. Late night bites included mac and cheese pies and fish and chip cones. We hired the castle for 2 nights and our closest family slept very comfortably in the many beautifully appointed rooms in the castle and on the grounds.

REASON TO HIRE A WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

Are you getting married but unsure whether you should hire the Carlowrie Castle wedding videographer? Check why Ariana and Cameron decided to have their wedding documented. “Hiring a videographer for our wedding was a non-negotiable element. We wanted our day to be captured on video so we could replay it for years to come and one day show it to our kids and family. A video truly captures the essence and feeling of your wedding in a way that nothing else can. We found Robert and Alexandra after a long online search and fell in love with their work and storytelling style. It felt very cinematic but simultaneously personal and intimate. A beautiful visual representation of such a monumental day! They are also such a pleasure to work with – so accommodating and they truly bring a feeling of calm comfort and support on the day. We cannot recommend them enough!! They will make your day that much more special and enjoyable. Having the opportunity to relive your wedding day through video is a gift we will always be thankful to Robert and Alexandra for”, shared the Bride. Don’t want to regret not having a wedding video…?
