Somerleyton Hall Wedding Film Of Catriona and Mark
From the heady heights of young love through the tender teenage years to sixteen years later at their wedding, Catriona and Mark have shown that their love is sweet, real, funny and meant to be. I was honoured to be chosen as their wedding cinematographer, to film the special day in Suffolk. From laughing to happy tears and every emotion in between, their wedding day was a joy to capture in a wedding film. Even despite the groom’s reservations about being camera-shy!
The beautiful Suffolk wedding film took place at the majestic Somerleyton Hall. Nestled in the wild and rugged countryside of East Anglia, Somerleyton Hall is a beautiful Victorian private house that invokes images of period dramas. Without a doubt, it provides a magnificent setting for a wedding and a wedding film too.
The preparations
So that I could capture both the bride and groom getting ready for their big day, I enlisted the help of my wonderful assistant cinematographer, Aleksandra. This meant both of us were there to see the nerves and excitement of the couple before they became husband and wife. For Catriona, much of the preparations were perfecting the look of her truly mesmerising wedding dress.
The preparations with Mark and his groomsmen were somewhat more relaxed, with them all taking a sneaky sip or two from their matching hipflasks. While Mark was not keen to be filmed, the approach I use of being natural and blending into the background instantly put him at ease.
The wedding ceremony at Somerleyton Halls
In this beautiful setting, the wedding between Catriona and Mark deserved a wonderful ceremony. The ceremony included romantic and heartfelt speeches such as;
“In the marriage, the little things are the big things, like never being too old to hold hands and remembering to say I love you at least once a day. It is demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways and the common search for the good and the beautiful. It is not only marrying the right person but being the right partner.”
After the ceremony, guests had a chance to explore the stunning grounds. The Romanesque columns and the incredible scenery were perfect for wedding cinematography as I had the chance to capture the first moments of married life with the newlyweds.
Then it was back to the hall, where the space was transformed for the wedding breakfast. The stunning flowers and greenery in the space made it feel like the wedding breakfast was taking place outside with a secret garden style ambience. It was the perfect place to gather friends and family together to celebrate the marriage.
It was a pleasure to capture the wedding speeches and learn more about the couple through the groom’s hilarious, yet romantic speech. From talking about how they first met, to their first dates right through to their time together now, Mark shared stories, funny anecdotes and beautiful words to his new wife which brought the whole wedding party together, which included many giggles and plenty of tears of laughter.
With a band getting the party started, the guests flocked to the dancefloor to dance away the night and was the perfect end to the day for the wedding of Mark and Catriona.
